I always thought that CrossFit was only for super fit, I initially dismissed it. - Laura Milligan
I always thought that CrossFit was only for super fit people who had run out of ways to challenge themselves. So when an advert for MVMT42 came up on Facebook, I initially dismissed it.
But after thinking about it, I had tried every kind of fitness class, sport and exercise going and I could never find anything that gave me the results I wanted or could hold my attention long enough to achieve these results. So I thought I'd give it a go. A year on I am completely hooked, people told me CrossFit was addictive but I never really believed them until now. What I love about it is there are so many different elements to it, and it doesn't matter that I'm not an elite athlete as everything is scaled to meet my needs. In a year I have achieved things I never in my lifetime believed I'd be able to do, I'm stronger than I have ever been and fitter physically and mentally, I would always tell myself I can't do certain things, but now it's a case of I can't do them yet!!
MVMT42 has a very special achievement for me, as I sustained a severe injury to my lower back when I was a teenager and was pretty much resigned to spending my life managing the chronic pain, but since joining MVMT42 last year I have strengthened my body to a point that I am practically pain free, it has given me a new lease of life and helped me be positive about the future, determined to do things I would never have believed possible.
This has been helped additionally by the mobility classes, Coach Meg is so knowledgeable and has helped me achieve a range of flexibility I never get thought my body would be capable of. All the coaches are so supportive and it's great walking into the gym and everyone is friendly and welcoming even down to the resident pooch Porter, who wants nothing more than a tummy rub.
There is a real community feel at MVMT42, which is great as after moving to Sussex 9 years ago, I found it hard to establish myself within the community, but now I have somewhere I love to go, not only to workout my body and mind, but to be around likeminded people.
